Glucomood Branding
A brand focused on Type 1 Diabetes.
August 2023- June 2024
This project won the silver award in 2024 UCDA Design Competition.
This project was part of my MFA thesis project which I defended on June 2024.
Project brief
Glucomood is a brand designed for adolescents with type 1 diabetes (T1D), offering both management tools for their condition and support for related mental health challenges. The main product is an app that acts as a digital companion and helps users navigate their health journey with confidence and encourages healthy lifestyle habits. The brand also includes a physical journal, a poster campaign to address misconceptions about T1D, promotional posters for the app, a self-care package with diabetic and self-care items, and stickers.
Choosing the Name
Glucomood is a blend of "glucose" and "mood," reflecting the app's functionality and engaging, user-friendly design.

Final Logo Design
The brand icon features a simple, happy smiley "G" incorporating a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) on its body. The custom lettermark combines circles and rounded shapes, conveying a friendly and approachable vibe, which resonates well with the target audience.

Journal Design
The physical journal is designed to take the user through a set of activities to help with both diabetes management and emotional support. It also includes encouraging quote pages and coloring pages that illustrate simple and funny diabetic-related scenes.

Poster Campaign
The poster campaign addresses misconceptions surrounding type 1 diabetes. It features common statements directed at individuals with type 1 diabetes, accompanied by a lighthearted, illustrative response at the bottom of each poster. The posters are designed with a minimalist aesthetic, effectively conveying their message in a gentle and non-aggressive manner.
