Whisper of the Wings
Intercative Data Visualization
July 2023
Project brief
A bird strike on a window occurs when a bird collides with a glass surface, often resulting in injury or death for the bird. These incidents are common, particularly in areas with large glass windows or buildings with reflective surfaces. Birds often mistake the reflection of the sky or trees in the glass as a continuation of their natural environment, leading to these collisions.
This interactive data visualization project showcases the number of bird strikes at Penn State from 2018 to 2022, providing insights into the frequency and patterns of these incidents over time. The project also explores the reasons behind bird strikes and highlights preventive measures to raise awareness about these collisions.
